The Family and Community Engagement Plan is in place because we know that families have a major influence on the learning and academic performance of children. As a result of this understanding, positive results occur when schools, families, and communities support learning for our students.
A Positive School Climate
At White Pine School, We Will Ensure the Following Will Occur:
· Remind messages shared between teachers and families
· School counselors present in classrooms to ensure growth in mental, social, and physical well-being
· Individual counseling provided as needed
· Parent-Teacher organization that meets several times a year
· Student Council to involve students in acts of kindness
· Beta Club membership
· White Pine School student nutrition department promotes healthy eating and snack habits
· Monthly newsletters
· Sunday evening blackboard message to communicate upcoming events
· Parent-Teacher conferences once a semester
· Aspen student portal will be kept up to date
· Common planning for grade-level teachers to provide time for parent/family meetings
· Monthly professional development through administration and teacher-led PLC meetings
· Familia ESL meetings
· Multiple events to promote school-wide literacy
· Parent training for those who wish to attend field trips and provide volunteer services
What Our School Needs From Parents:
Send your child to school each day on time, rested, and prepared to learn
· Monitor progress through Aspen student portal
· Talk about specific events in the school day; be positive
· Join our very active PTO
· Monitor your student’s social media activity and contents
· Report information regarding the safety of students immediately to the school
· Ask your child to “teach” you what they learned from today
· Encourage students to do their absolute best every day and everywhere
